Namely, Luka played the role of the fourth referee in the mentioned match, while the main referee in this match was the best B&H referee, Irfan Peljto. Just 7 days before his debut in the senior Champions League, Bilbija, this time as the head referee, administered justice in the match of the first round of the UEFA Youth Champions League between Inter Milan and Bayern Munich.
Luka picked up a whistle for the first time at the age of 18, and since then his constant development and progress has continued. He has been on the UEFA and FIFA list of referees since 2021, he is one of three referees from Bosnia and Herzegovina who proudly wear this sign, and the only one from Prijedor. When Luka Bilbija appears on the field, he captivates with his authority, he is communicative, hard-working, responsible, well-organized, and always ready to work in a team.
“I went step by step and solidly built my career as a referee. As it is said, I wanted to “learn how”. I have the strong support of my family, my wife Maja and our three children, as well as my parents who have always stood behind all my decisions, especially when I decided to go to being a referee,” says Luka.
In addition to the obligations related to the most important sideline in the world, Bilbija successfully completed his studies at the Faculty of Architecture and Construction and obtained the title of graduate engineer in geodesy, and is currently in the final year of his master’s studies. He has been employed in our company since 2021 in the position “Engineer for mining measurements and geodesy” in Engineering Department .
