Health and safety of workers has no compromise and is the highest priority in the business of ArcelorMittal Prijedor.

Health and safety of workers has always been the highest priority in the ArcelorMittal Prijedor company. Every activity and job must contain, first of all, the identification of hazards and an assessment of the degree of risk, which must be eliminated and only when the environment is safe for work, continue with the execution of the work. Safety at work begins with the creation of a safe working environment, training of workers for independent and safe work, provision of personal and collective protective equipment and necessary means for work.

We build a safety culture based on safety at work, which means that you come to work ready and able to work, that you respect the requirements for the prevention of fatal accidents and work according to the Instructions for independent and safe work. All workers are encouraged to stop working if the basic conditions for safe work are not provided and continue with activities only when the dangers and risks have been eliminated.

Recognizing unsafe conditions in the field, applying adequate measures to eliminate dangers and risks are key factors in ensuring safe working conditions. And when we bring the workplace and the environment into acceptable frameworks for safe work, we must pay great attention and focus to human behavior. In this regard, we encourage managers of all management levels to spend some time in the field, in conversation with the direct executors of the work and to focus on health and safety. The goal of shop floor audits is to review work practices, strengthen existing standards, identify opportunities for improvement, provide positive feedback on safe work, and correct unsafe activities.

We strive to improve occupational health and safety in accordance with the best global practice in the field of mining, using the experiences of other units that operate within the ArcelorMittal company. We keep up with the times and many activities include digitalization of processes, which is our focus in the coming years. We are constantly looking for solutions and working on improvements in the fields: preventing fatigue of drivers of heavy mining machinery, improvements in the field of vehicles and driving, energy isolation when working on equipment, working at height, working in confined spaces, railway safety, working with cranes and equipment for lifting, preparedness to respond in emergency situations, hazard identification and risk assessment and many other fields of work.

There is no compromise on worker safety. We believe that an educated worker is a protected worker, and that is why we invest a lot in safety training. The TAKE CARE training program aims to build a culture of safety in the workplace, that safety starts from me and continues with teamwork. We encourage our colleagues to take care of themselves and the colleagues around them. The program is designed to last 10 years and each worker will undergo 20 days of training during that period.

Only with the joint efforts of all employees, we can achieve the goal we want, which is that at the end of the working day, we all return to our homes, to our loved ones alive and well.
