Projects in the local community
The company ArcelorMittal Prijedor in the period from its establishment in 2004 until today has proven that it is a socially responsible company. We try to be present wherever we feel that our help and support is needed, and in this way we make things better and of higher quality. In this period, we implemented over 450 projects and activities from various areas of our activity for more than 100,000 users. We invested 4.5 million KM and more than 10,000 volunteer hours of our employees.
The Community Investment Program (CI Program) is only one of the 10 outcomes of sustainable development, aimed at strengthening resources in the local community that will make the process of community development more efficient, meaningful and of higher quality for all citizens of the city of Prijedor. The program is primarily aimed at strengthening education and development of young people, but also at strengthening youth activities, development of health, sports, culture and art, as important forms of lifelong learning and development of both young people and everyone who has an interest in participating in such projects.
Our goals are:
– Improving the development of the local community where ArcelorMittal Prijedor operates;
– Strengthening programs of education, work with youth, NGO sector and youth sports;
– Improving the quality of cultural life and diversity of cultural content in the city of Prijedor;
– Strengthening the organization of citizens and the development of key competencies of lifelong learning.
– Safeguard the legal and customary rights and interests, cultures, customs and values of local communities regarding lands, their use of natural resources and their livelihoods;
– Maintain or improve the social and economic well-being of local communities affected by the site’s operations.
Through the areas of youth education and the lifelong learning program, sports, culture and art, health and safety and community development, we have tried to reach as many users as possible, thereby providing the possibility and opportunity to learn, to develop, to progress and grow all together. We took care of the common good, not making a difference on any basis, insisting on the quality of projects, the justification of requests and the involvement of as many users as possible. The effects of our work are presented through the achieved results, defined in the goals of the CI program.
In addition, the company ArcelorMittal Prijedor implemented a project from its fund for the rehabilitation of the consequences of floods in May 2014 by building a section of the damaged Gradina-Marićka road in a length of about 3 km, and cleaning the bed of the Berek river along the entire course. Through that project, the company invested a total of 500,000 KM.
Our work in the field of social responsibility certainly did not go unnoticed. The ArcelorMittal Prijedor Company was awarded several times on various grounds by the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Srpska. We are especially proud of the award for contribution to the development of social responsibility, which the Company received in 2009 and 2014, as well as the commendation for its work in the local community of the city of Prijedor in 2016.
We know our way and we will continue to work on the same foundations , all in order to contribute to the community in which we work, do business and live. We will try to continue to shape the future for all of us and the generations to come.
